Papa Chops' Props: I've really gotta hand it to a Fishing Guide I recently had the pleasure of fishing with.  July 9th, 2011 I was down from Austin fishing with a group of friends in E. Galveston Bay when we encountered some technical problems with our boat (Unrecoverable), so needless to say we needed a guide at the last minute so we could fish the following day. I called a very good friend of mine and he highly recommended a local guide/long-time friend, Capt. Steve Coffee. Right away, is was Capt. Coffee to the RESCUE! Running a 21' Skeeter BayPro, we launched early and were on the largest speckle trout population I have encountered in the Galveston Bay Complex within 5 minutes of making out first cast.

      Being an ARTI chunker myself, live croaker fishing was a new ball game for me (and to tell the truth I still don't know if I fully understand it even yet). Steve first described this type of fishing as an art, and he was DEFINITELY an ARTIST, I am still amazed at how well he can work a live croaker! All day long we were on fish, having a great time, and were provided with a very coachable/adaptable learning experience.  Capt. Coffee has over 40 years fishing experience and has mastered this Art very well. Capt. Coffee is well-known in the Galveston Bay Complex as "THE" live bait specialist. He guides East and West Galveston Bay, depending on the season and specializes in catching large trout on live croaker. He can also target redfish, flounder, blackdrum, whiting, or whatever else you prefer. I highly recommend a Galveston Bay fishing experience with my new friend Capt. Steve Coffee!
